Your Path to a Masterpiece:
Our 5-Step Consulting Process

At West Coast Stair Co., we treat every staircase as a unique structural work of art. To ensure your vision is realized with the precision it deserves, we follow a refined process to move from concept to custom fabrication.

1. Initial Discovery & Vision

The process begins with a conversation about your aesthetic goals. Whether you are looking for a modern architectural statement or a classic traditional banister, we want to understand your style.

  • What to consider: Do you have a specific architectural style in mind (e.g., Contemporary, Craftsman, or Curved)?

  • Existing Inspiration: We encourage you to share photos of other projects or design styles that resonate with you.

2. Project Documentation & Plans

To provide an accurate estimate, we review any available technical documents.

  • New Construction: Do you have existing architectural drawings or CAD plans? If so, these allow us to analyze structural requirements early on.

  • Remodels: If plans aren't available, don't worry. We specialize in custom fabrication and can work with you to develop the necessary specifications.

3. Site Context & Evaluation

We need to understand the physical space where the masterpiece will live.

  • Visualizing the Space: We ask for photos of the existing area or the current "framed-in" stage of the build.

  • Identifying Challenges: This helps our artisans identify any unique structural needs or opportunities for innovation before we begin fabrication in our shop.

4. Material & Detail Selection

Once we understand the scope, we dive into the fine details that define our work.

  • Curated Materials: We discuss wood species, handrail profiles, and baluster styles.

  • Sustainability: We can also discuss incorporating reclaimed lumber or zero-VOC products to ensure your project is environmentally friendly.

5. Personalized Estimation & Timeline

After gathering your plans, photos, and design preferences, Jim Pittman and our team of elite artisans will provide a detailed project estimate. This proposal will outline the craftsmanship required to bring your "impossible" dream to life, ensuring the finished product meets the highest standards of luxury and durability.
